Halyomorpha halys
Invasive fall home invader from Asia. Nuisance pest that clusters indoors seeking warmth.
Overwinters in attics, wall voids, window frames. Feeds on fruit trees and gardens spring/summer. MD/VA/DC suburban homes see heavy fall invasions.
Enters homes September–October. Emerges from hiding March–April to return outdoors.
Nuisance and odor. No health threat or structural damage. Stains fabrics if crushed. Damages fruit crops outdoors.
Perimeter spray in late August before migration. Vacuum removal indoors. Avoid crushing. Light traps can reduce numbers. No indoor spray needed — they don't breed indoors.
